Searching for a Warrant in Wichita County
Match the search to where the case began. A Wichita Falls citation lives in the city-linked portal and Municipal Court. Class C and county-road tickets belong to the JP precinct printed on the ticket. County misdemeanors run through the County Clerk. Felony records and capias entries are handled by the District Clerk in district court. If you cannot tell which court holds the case, call the Wichita County Sheriff's Office main number to get routed. That call does not replace checking every docket yourself.
- Copy the court name, citation or cause number, and date from the paper.
- Use the matching official portal, if that court provides one.
- Check hearings and payments separately from the case search.
- Call the named clerk to confirm whether a warrant entry requires action.
- Ask what proof to keep after a payment, appearance, bond, or recall.
Wichita County Warrant Search on Odyssey
Wichita County labels its Odyssey tool "Judicial Record Search, Hearings, & Payments." Smart Search can locate a county case by case number or party name. Filters cover location, case type, status, date, judge, and advanced case numbers. Search Hearings is a separate route for settings. Make Payments is a transaction area. The landing screen presents all three. Note that the portal needs JavaScript and cookies, and a payment or docket entry alone does not establish that a warrant was recalled.

Use the case result to find the court and cause number. Then call that Wichita County court for the precise status and your next required step.
Warrant Search Fields Explained
Search fields differ by system. Odyssey can expose a cause or record number, party name parts, location, case type or status, date range, judicial officer, and optional booking or sheriff numbers. Do not assume every field is required. The field inventory here describes the official Wichita Falls city portal, which is separate from the Wichita County tool.
| Route | Inputs shown | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| Citation number | Number printed on the ticket | Most direct city citation route |
| Name | First and last name with date of birth | When the ticket is unavailable |
| Driver license or SSN | Number plus state or DOB fields | Private identity match with the court |
| Vehicle or business | Plate and state, or business name | City portal feature, not a county warrant index |
Wichita County Warrant Search: Finding a Wichita Falls Citation
The city-linked Municipal Online Services portal splits lookups into separate tabs: citation number, driver license, Social Security number, vehicle information, name, and business name. The search screen shows only empty fields. Citation number is the clearest route. Name plus date of birth can help when the paper copy is lost. The court still answers on an FTA or warrant. A Wichita Falls result also says nothing about a different city or JP case elsewhere in Wichita County.

Never post personal identifiers in a public records request. Share a completed search or its details only with the official court in Wichita County.
What a Warrant Search Shows
A portal may show a case, a hearing, a payment balance, a charge, a court, or a docket event. It may not show the warrant itself. Service status and a later recall can be missing too. Wichita County publishes no warrant-number or status-code dictionary. Ask a clerk to translate any code and to say whether it concerns the case, a payment, or the enforcement process.
| Case number | The identifier to quote when calling the court. |
|---|---|
| Warrant label | May say FTA, capias, capias pro fine, or arrest warrant. |
| Balance | May omit fees or a court appearance requirement. |
| Event date | May mark filing, judgment, hearing, or payment, not the warrant’s current status. |
Why an Empty Wichita County Warrant Search Is Not Clearance
An empty result is not clearance. A blank screen can mean the wrong court was checked, a common name was entered differently, the portal covers only city or county records, or an update has not posted yet. Juvenile, sealed, or active investigative material may stay off the display. Burkburnett's court also says citations after January 28, 2026 are not visible online. That date is a visibility limit. It does not prove a citation or court requirement is missing. Wichita County has no single public active-warrant search. If the first screen is blank, call the court named on the paper and ask whether an FTA, capias, or other entry sits on its docket. The Wichita County outstanding-warrant overview explains why separate court systems matter here.

Calling the Wichita County JP About a Warrant
A Wichita County traffic citation should name the justice court that holds it. JP 1-1 sits at the courthouse, 900 7th Street, Room 281, (940) 766-8141. JP 2 serves the Burkburnett area from 108 E. Williams Drive, (940) 569-1140; a construction note also lists a mailing location, so confirm before you travel. JP 3 works out of 400 N. Wall Street, Suite 101 in Iowa Park, (940) 592-9388. JP 4 is at 2023 S.H. 25 North in Electra, (940) 766-8129. For JP 1-2, check its current Wichita County page. The JP clerk holds the case. That clerk explains payment or recall. A constable may serve justice-court process, but the clerk keeps the file. Do not call a nearer precinct instead of the right one.
Requesting Wichita County Warrant Records When the Portal Is Silent
Wichita County's 2024 open-records form points court records away from the Criminal District Attorney's PIA form. Those belong with a clerk or a JP. Felony and district files sit with the District Clerk, while County Court at Law misdemeanors go to the County Clerk. JP files stay with the relevant JP. Anything a police officer created belongs to that department, and the Wichita Falls Police Records Division posts its own counter hours and fee information for those reports. When you write a request, describe it narrowly: name the record and the date you want. One caution, though. A records request gets you paper, not action. It cannot make a judge recall a warrant or set a hearing, so a Wichita County warrant question still starts with the court that issued it. For a city matter, call the Municipal Court phone line or use its portal instead.

The right office can tell you whether another form or authorization is required.
Restricted Warrants and Access Rules
Not every record is open. The Texas Public Information Act reaches most government records, but access still depends on the record and on who holds it. Government Code §552.108 can shield law-enforcement material when release would interfere with an investigation or prosecution. Texas Family Code §58.010 keeps juvenile warrant records confidential unless the requester is authorized to see them. A court may also seal a file. When a Wichita County office withholds a warrant record, ask that office directly what can be released and on what legal ground.
Useful law: Texas Government Code Chapter 552 governs public information; court records still route through their court clerk.
Give a name and date of birth privately if the Wichita County clerk asks. A blank online search is never a final answer about an active warrant.
